What to Wear for Your Branding Photos (Without Losing Yourself)
You already made the bold choice to be seen. This post is about helping you feel at home in your skin once you get there.
When it comes to branding photos, one of the most common questions we hear is:
“What should I wear?”
The answer isn’t about fashion.
It’s about how you want to be felt.
Because great branding photos aren’t about perfection — they’re about presence. They're about alignment. And the clothes you wear play a quiet but powerful role in that.
This guide is here to help you show up with confidence, clarity, and just the right amount of ease.
💡 First, Wear What Makes You Feel Powerful
This might sound obvious, but it's where most people overthink it.
The best outfit for your branding shoot is one that:
You’ve worn before and felt like yourself in
Doesn’t need constant adjusting
Makes you feel grounded, focused, and like you own the room
Skip the brand-new dress that rides up. Say no to the blazer you’ve never liked. Instead, grab the outfit that makes you stand taller.
🎨 Choose Colors That Reflect Your Energy
If your brand is calm and clean, neutrals or soft tones are perfect.
If your personality is bold and expressive, jewel tones or saturated colors can feel electric on camera.
Stick to solid colors when you can — they keep the focus on you. Avoid super busy patterns, large logos, and neons (unless that is your brand — in which case, we love that for you).
👗 Layering = Versatility
Layered looks photograph beautifully and give us variety in a short session.
Bring a blazer, cardigan, jacket, or scarf you can pop on and off — it can create two totally different moods in just a few minutes.
👖 Fit > Fancy
Well-fitting jeans > a stiff dress shirt.
A soft jumpsuit > a too-tight pencil skirt.
Your branding session is not the day to try Spanx for the first time.
We’ll be directing your posing to flatter and empower — the more comfortable you are in your body, the more confident you’ll look.
💍 Accessorize with Intention
Jewelry and accessories can add interest and texture — but keep it simple.
Avoid large reflective pieces or anything you’re constantly adjusting. Glasses are fine (especially if they’re part of your look), but give them a good clean beforehand.
🧳 Bring Options
We recommend 2–3 outfits for full branding sessions, and at least one back-up even for mini sessions like our Power Sessions. That way you’ve got options if something doesn’t feel quite right.
Need help deciding? Bring them to the shoot or text us ahead of time — we’re happy to weigh in.
✨ What You Don’t Need to Be
You don’t need to be trendy.
You don’t need to look like someone else.
You don’t need to shrink or soften or change to be "more professional."
We’re here to capture you — clear, intentional, and unmistakably aligned with the business you’re building.
